The situation:
3/4 of the logs are bucked and ready to be split.
However my chainsaw a STIHL ms290 has stopped working. So no more can be cut at the moment.
I've been working for 3 days learning what makes these saws work so I can figure out why mine isn't.
I've taken apart, cleaned, and rebuilt my carburetor a couple times.
Today I tried tossing the current batch of gas and buying new gas. The saw suddenly worked for 10 minutes before it stopped working again.
Tomorrow I am going to buy new gas, deep clean the fuel tank and carburetor and hopefully all remnants of the old gas will be gone and the saw with work.
Hopefully that theory is correct and my saw will run again so I can finish cutting these logs.
The reflection:
This is the first time I've been really invested in solving a problem as black/white as this one. Either my chainsaw runs or it doesn't. And over the last couple days it has gone back and forth, appearing to be fixed only to get bogged down and die again. It is incredibly exhausting to feel like the problem is solved only for it to reappear. I feel it will be worth it to stick with it and solve the problem, but the fear that it is futile is always there.
Update:
I replaced the carburetor and found a different gas station to buy the fuel from. After 4 days of trouble shooting the saw is working again thankfully.
